Preveli Monastery

A great place, you should visit!

Preveli Monastery is 37 km south of Rethymno and 11km from FotinariMare, in a beautiful natural location on the western slopes of the Great River (Kourtaliotis gorge) and the palm grove of Lake. It includes two separate monasteries, the Lower Monastery of Prodromos and the Monastery of the Theologian. The first complex is ruined. It is close to the Grand River and the gorgeous bridge of the area. The Monastery of Theologos operates normally as a male monastery and can be visited and has unparalleled seaview. Preveli beach, also known as Lake Preveli or Preveli palm forest, is one of the most famous beaches of southern Crete and receives thousands of visitors every summer.
